Il Viaggio di Marco a Italia

Rome: Trevi Fountain

Wow! We need one of these in Blacksburg! Trevi Fountain was completed in 1762 by Nicola Salvi to help celebrate the reopening of the ancient Roman aqueducts. The main figure is "Ocean" who represents water in every form. The fountain has over 24 spouts.

It was and still is, fed by a Roman aqueduct. In fact, all the fountians in Rome are. This one is quite impressive at night when it is all lit up.

While there, you must throw a coin in over your shoulder. You get one wish and a guarantee that you will return to Rome. Well, my flight home leaves from Rome, and Italy airlines being what they are, I took no chances. The fountain got my coin. We'll see about the wish.

Here's Monica making hers.
