Il Viaggio di Marco a ItaliaMolto Viaggiare in BiciclettaI ride my bicycle daily- of course, as it's my only form of transportation. Turns out, it's all I really need; though, without it, a car (la macchina) would be a necessity. The nearest store is a small grocer in Ponte Agli Stolli - about a kilometer away. Figline is farther down the mountain, about 6 kilometers.I found a nice road up to the summit of Monte San Michele. It's a great climb - about 1800 feet in 10km. It goes through two (very) small villages and many vinyards. The summit is an evergreen forest. Here are some pictures from along the route. So far, I've been biking about 40-60km a day. Sometimes, I just bike to a town and sightsee and then come home. Sometimes, I just pick a circuit through the hills. Yesterday while riding near Cavriglia, I had to stop for a llama herd that had wondered down out of the field and into the road. Really. Alas, I didn't have my camera. Return to Contents |
