What is Adventure Racing?
Adventure racing is a combination of disciplines including orienteering and
navigation, cross-country running, whitewater swimming, mountain biking,
paddling (canoes, kayaks, etc) and climbing and related rope skills. An
expedition event can span ten days while shorter races ranger from 6 to 12 to
24 hours. Typically there is no dark period during races, regardless of
their length, the choice when (and if) to rest/sleep is left to the
competitors.
Adventure races typically have no defined course. Teams navigate from
checkpoint to checkpoint choosing/navigating the route they feel is best.
